The reason for multi purpose projects  and large dams coming under great opposition are 1.local communities have been displaced from their original settlement areas, with consequent loss of lively hoods and income. 2.these projects create social gap as rich landlords and big farmers take more benefits than poor farmers. 3.rise of sedimentation of the reservoir leads to land degradation while flooding the nearby areas around dam.  Hope this answer help you

projects and large dams have come under great scrutiny and opposition in the recent years are as follows:   1.Multipurpose projects and dams affect the natural flow of rivers and results in poor sediment flow and excessive sedimentation at the bottom of the reservoir and triggered floods.   2. Dams causes fragmentation of rivers and block the migration routes of aquatic fauna , especially for spawning.    3. Artificial reservoirs submerge some parts of the natural vegetation leading to the extinction of Exotic flora and fauna and soil leading to its decomposition over a period of time.   4. Multi Purpose projects and dams induced earthquakes cause water borne diseases and pests and pollution. Please rate my answer as brainliest
