Phylum Echinodermata ( Phylum Echinoderm )

  • Echinoderms are exclusively marine spiny - skinned animals .

  • They reproduce sexually and is having indirect development ( larva stage is present ).

  • The larva of echinoderms are bilaterally symmetrical while adults are radially symmetrical.

  • The outer endoskeleton of echinoderms are calcareous and is embedded with spicules for protection .

  • Their mouth is downdardly directed while anus is directed upwards.

  • They have a complete digestive system..

  • Excretory system is absent and excretion occurs through diffusion .

  • The main excretory product of echinoderms are ammonia.

  • Echinoderms lacks brain and the neural system of nerve rings encirclying the oesophagus.
