1) they are non malleable and non ductile i.e,. they are not able to be beaten into thin sheets and they cannot be able to be drawn into thin wires

2)they are poor conductors of heat and electricity

3)they always gain electrons easily , so it is mostly  negatively charged or stable in nature

4)they always gain acidic oxides
