Four reasons of attacking Chittorgarh by Alauddin Khilji:

  • Alauddin Khilji began the Imperial period of the Sultanate of Delhi.
  • There were rebellions on Alauddin Khilji by Mongols, and opposition from Hindu rulers and other central authorities.
  • So he decided to suppress the Mongols, Khilji began the expansion of his empire through subjugation of Gujarat and some places in Rajastan.
  • Then, he turned his attention towards Chittogarh in Mewar, Rajastan by Ratan Singh becuase Ratan singh not allowed Khilji armies march through Mewar to reach Mewar so he was enraged.
  • Khilji heard the eternal beauty of Ratan singh's wife Rani Padmini  and he wanted her to be part of his Harem.
