• Electron is a universal constituents of all atoms, this can be proved by following tests :

1) Discharge tube experiment -

• This experiment proved that the electrons carried by the cathode rays are identical irrespective of materials used for cathode or gas present in the discharge tube.
• This is because e/m ratio for all cases is same.

2) When electrons are emitted from metal filaments in high temperature then also in all the cases of different metals e/m ratio will be same.

3) When electrons are emitted from the radioactive substances in the form of β- rays, in this case also e/m ratio will be same.

4) Electrons can also be emitted when alkali metal surfaces are exposed to high frequency radiations such as ultra violet or X- rays in that case also e/m ratio will be same.
