Democracy as an advantage:
1. Democracy sets the best example for a government throughout the world.
This is because, a democratic government is the representative of the people. It is by the people, of the people, for the people.
2. Democracy allows the people to choose the leaders they want. They can elect the people who have the same concerns in mind.
3. Democracy is open for change. The elected rulers cannot stay elected for long. They are replaced by the next set of rulers after the next elections.
Disadvantages of democracy:
1. Passing of laws take a long time. Any bill that has to be passed has to be checked by both the lok sabha and the rajya sabha and this makes it difficult to pass bills.
2. Influence of rich people. In democracy, the rich people have a greater influence over how the government works. They can therefore ask for laws that will work in their favour. This clashes with the fundamental policy of democracy that is everyone is equal before the eyes of law.
