Three causes for the sucesses British in India:-
- By the middle of the nineteenth Century, the British with the supreme power in India.
- Starting with Bengal, they conquered almost the whole country.
- After this phase of conquest, they began to economically exploit India.
- The Indians were technologically backward. The British, on the other hand, had developed new techniques of warfare.
- The British strength lay in their navy. None of the Indian rulers had a strong Navy.
- Lack of Unity among the native rulers, neglect of the masses and technological backwardness of the Indians enabled the British to conquer India and establish an Empire
