The following are the three conditions which result in termination of membership of legislative assembly
- If the member is holding any office of profit under the State Government or under the Government of India as mentioned in the First Schedule. This however does not include an office which is declared by the Legislature of the State by law not to disqualify its holder.
- If the member is of unsound mind and proofed so by a competent court
- The member is not an Indian or has voluntarily taken up the citizenship of a foreign State, or is under any sort of acknowledgement of adherence or allegiance to a foreign State.
