Belgium

1.They adopted a policy of power sharing.

 2. They gave equal powers to all communities.. minor or major doesn’t matter

3.It solved the problem. 

SriLanka

1)They adopted a policy of Majoritarioism.

2) They gave preferences to the majority Sinhala group alone, disregarding the minority

3). It only increased the problem

1. In Belgium power sharing model was adopted but Sri Lanka adopted policy of majoritarianism.

2. In Belgium there was power sharing to accommodate the linguistic diversity. In Sri Lanka, the govt refused to share power with the Tamil linguistic groups and adopted the preferential policies toward Sinhala.

3. Belgium has been successful in easing tensions, avoid civic strife and check any division on the linguistic lines. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had to face civic strife between the Tamils and the Sinahala that ultimately led to Civil War that endangered the unity of the country.
