1. In our digestive system - Hydrochloric acid is produced in the stomach to help in digesting food. However, when the amount of acid exceeds a certain limit it causes acidity and pain. This acidity can be neutralized by taking a mild base called as an antacid.

2. pH of soil – Plants grow only in soils that have a definite pH range. So, highly acidic soils are treated with quicklime or calcium carbonate to reduce its acidity.

3. Tarnished vessels – Copper vessels are tarnished due to the formation of a layer of basic copper oxide. This can be removed when it is rubbed with the citric acid from a lemon. Copper oxide forms copper citrate with citric acid and is washed away giving a shine to the vessels.

PH IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE:

  1. aquatic animals can't survive when it rains acid rains (pH less than5.6)
  2. during indigestion our stomach produce too much of HCl which cause irritation so we use mild masses like magnesium hydroxide
  3. our tooth enamel is made up calcium phosphate when microorganisms in our mouth release too much acid to breakdown the remaining food particles when our mouth pH becomes less than 5.5 it causes tooth decay
  4. plants can also survive under a narrow range of ph
