1.It creates the sense of disunity among the citizens
2.Political leaders often put allegations on one another.
3.It increases the chances of cheating
Merits.
1.If political competition is not there,election will become pointless. 2.There is equal opportunity to all citizens, irrespective of cast,race,gender to elect their leaders.
3.This leads to the foundation of well developed society. 4.It enhances the dignity of the citizens.

Election provides equal choices and oppurtunities to all to change the current ruler and elect the desired leader.If political competition is not there, elections will become pointless.Electoral competition is more suitable in the long run.
