Modern farming methods can be described as:

(a) Different crops to be grown during parts of the year. For example, the farmers of Palampur grow Kharif crops in the rainy season and Rabi crops in the winter season.

(b) The modern methods of 'farming imply simultaneous use of better agricultural inputs like high yielding varieties of seeds, chemical fertilisers, pesticides, etc.

(c) As a modern farming method only a welldeveloped system of irrigation can, make it possible for the farmer to grow three different crops in a year.
