Three properties of true solutions:

  • A true solution is a homogeneous mixture.
  • The size of the solute particles in a true solution is extremely small. It is less than 1 nm (10^-9 m) in diameter.
  • The particles of a true solution cannot be seen even with a microscope.

Some More properties:

  • True solutions are very stable. The particles of solute present in a solution do not separate out on keeping undisturbed.
  • A true solution does not scatter light because its particles are very small.
  • The components of a solution do not chemically react with one another.
