Reasons why election in Mexico are not considered democratic:

Mexico holds elections every 6 years to the post of President. But Mexico is not considered a Democracy because of the following reasons.

1. The people have a choice to choose the party they like but in reality they can't defeat the ruling party even if they wish to, as the Institutional Revolutionary party which was the ruling party uses illegal methods and dirty tricks to win the elections. There were no fair elections.

2. Government employees and officers had to attend its party meetings compulsorily. Some Government teachers used to force parents to vote for that party.

3. There were occasions when the polling booths were shifted in the last minute, making it difficult for the people to cast their vote.

Thus holding elections is not sufficient to be a Democracy. People must have freedom, power and alternative choices to chose the party they wish.
