• 1) Every chemical symbol should  start with a capital letter.

For example, C is the correct symbol for carbon, but c is wrong.

• 2) The second is that you cannot have more than two letters for a symbol. 

Although there are symbols with three letters, it is just because the scientists haven't decided it is a real element. 

• 3)Finally, the second letter can't be capitalized (if there is a second letter).

For example: Mg is correct symbol for magnesium but MG is wrong.
