- Xylem exarch in roots but endarch in stem.
OR
- Hypodermis absent in roots but present in stem.
- Root hair present in root but absent in stem.

The Stem develops from the plumule of the embryo while the root develops from the radicle of the embryo.
- The major anatomical differences between stem and Root of Angiosperms are:-
- Epidermal cells present in the stem are cutinized(deposition of cutin layer) while cutinization is absent in the root epidermis.
- Vascular tissues are generally conjoint and collateral whereas in root these are in a radial arrangement.
- Stomata are completely absent in roots.
- Root hairs are usually unicellular whereas, in Stem, the hairs can be unicellular or multicellular.
- In stems, the cortex is differentiated into several regions such as inner, middle and outer cortical regions but the cortex is undifferentiated in roots.
- The Endodermis is not prominent in stems while it is distinct and clearly observable in roots.
- The Pericycle is generally multilayered in stems but in roots if present it is single-layered.
