High blood pressure and blood sugar are the two prime causes of kidney or renal failure.

Other causes:

• blood clot in or around the kidneys.

• lack of water. • drugs and alcohol

• overdoses of medicine..

Serious kidney disease may lead to complete kidney failure and the need for dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant to stay alive.

The two leading or major causes of kidney damage or kidney failure are diabetes and high blood pressure.

Explanation:

  • The main function of kidneys is to filter wastes and extra water from blood to produce urine and this function is damaged because of diabetes (high blood glucose) which damages the blood vessels.
  • As a result of this the kidneys cannot filter blood and this in turn will lead to waste build up in the body.
  • High blood pressure increases the pressure on the glomeruli which is the filtering system of the kidney, damages the vessels over time and the kidneys begin to decline in function.
