The amplitude of a sound wave is areflection of how much energy iscarried, which contributes to the intensity of the sound. Intensity ismeasured in decibels and is perceived as sound volume. Thus, the volume isproportional to the amplitude of the sound wave. The frequency of a soundwave is perceived as pitch.

the pitch is the reason behind the difference in voice quality of different individuals.
The pitch of a sounddepends on the frequency while loudness of a sound depends on theamplitude of sound waves.
