A renewable resource is a resource which can be used repeatedly and replaced naturally.
Most renewable energy comes either directly or indirectly from the sun.
Examples include oxygen, fresh water, solar energy and biomass.
Nonrenewable resources are those found inside the earth, and they took millions of years to form.
The original organic material, with the aid of heat and pressure, becomes a fuel such as oil or gas. Earth minerals and metal ores, fossil fuels and groundwater in certain aquifers are all considered non renewable resources.
Close to 84% of the total amount of energy used globally comes from fossil fuels.
