Dayananda Saraswati founded Arya Samaj and laid emphasis on Gurukul system of education. He established the Anglo-Vedic College at Lahore in 1886. First national school was set up at Rangpur on 9th Nov., 1905 as a protest against repressive policy of the British Government.
