Here in southwest Arizona twenty years ago there was far more brush covering the desert floor. Today the brush is shorter and the area between clumps of brush are far larger. We used to have hundreds of jack rabbits, then it was dozens, then one or two and in the last five years I've seen only one. We used to a lot of rain during our 'monsoon' season...July through September, but now it's a shorter season by a matter of weeks. Summers are hotter and a few weeks longer, and our 'winters' shorter and more mild. That's over the last twenty years that I've lived here. The entire Colorado River Basin has seen far less rain over the last twenty years as well. Lake Mead is pretty much on its last legs. Even power generation at the Hoover Dam is in danger due to the low water levels.
