• It is used to see above the height of a viewer like over the fence. It is mainly used in submarines to view above the ocean surface.
• Basically, it is built with a long tube and two mirrors fitted at $45^{\circ}$ -degree angles.
• The mirror should be positioned on the carton box at a $45^{\circ}$ - degree angle so that light from one mirror is reflected by the other mirror.  
• The size of the box or tube that is used to make the periscope should be according to the 'size of the mirrors' used.
