Dear Student,

◆ Diborane -

Molecular formula of diborane is B2H6.

# Methods of preparation -

(a) Laboratory preparation -

2NaBH4 + I2 --> B2H6 + 2NaI + H2

(b) Industrial preparation -

2BH3 + 6NaH --> B2H6 + 6NaF

# Reactions of diborane -

(i) With carbon monoxide -

Borane carbon monoxide adduct is formed.

B2H6 + 2CO --> 2BH3.CO

(ii) With ammonia -

Boron nitride is formed.

B2H6 + 2NH3 --> (BN)n + H2

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
