Differences. The path length is a scalar quantity but the displacement is a vector quantity. The magnitude of path length can never be 0 or negative but not in the case of displacement, it can be 0 or negative.

Difference between Path length and Displacement:
Path length:
- It is also called DISTANCE. It is a scalar quantity.
- It represents the total distance traversed by the body.
- It can either positive or zero.
- Distance divided by time gives speed, which is again a scalar quantity.
Displacement:
- It is a vector quantity.
- It represents the shortest length between starting and stopping point of an object.
- It can be positive, negative or zero.
- Displacement divided by time gives velocity, which is a vector quantity.
Hope It Helps.
