Pros:

The military can use it in situations where they want to remain silent.

Deaf people and mute people can use it and sometimes depend on it.

Infants can understand sign language, as can several animals; they also automatically start communicating like that for the most part. For example, cats meow specifically for humans.

Charades and mimes are fun to some people.

Cons:

There’s more ability to be misunderstood.

There are multiple sets of sign language for different languages, even between two places that speak the same language, such as England and America, so it can be difficult to keep up.
