1. Current should not flow through the resistors for a long time .
2. The circuit should have to be complete while determining the equivalent resistance

a. the connection should be tight and clean .
b. the wire should only be connected at the terminals not in between.
c. clean the ends of connecting wire with a sand paper .
d. take the voltmeter and ammeter in proper range .
e. the rheostat should be used of low resistance ( about 100)
