Similarities: 1. Both the chloroplast and the mitochondrion are organelles found in the cells. The function of chloroplasts and mitochondria is to generate energy for the cells in which they live.
2. Both chloroplast and mitochondria are surrounded by double membrane (Inner and outer membrane).
- Differences: Mitochondria is found in both plant and animal cells but chloroplasts are present in only plant cells.
- Mitochondria are involved in cellular respiration whereas chloroplasts are involved in photosynthesis. Thus, the overall chemical reactions for the processes occurring in them are different and reversed.
