Answer:

Because political science involves empirical studies of realities in the world in order to support or refute political theories. For example, a political scientist who wants to understand the general correlation between form of government and violence in a country can conduct a study by collecting historical and observational data and applying statistical methods to find correlations, significance, and other data to support or attempt to refute political theories. Political scientists also run experiments and observational studies for the same reason. As long as it involves empirical studies, it can be considered a science.
