I did learn the importance of taking care of my house, as a fundamental mean to investing in improving my identity and reaching my goals (get a better quality life for me and family by being an entrepreneur, learn from higher education and being happier).

I found out that reaching goals is always associated to a workplace where you develop the activity required to succeed, and motivation, happiness and productivity found in or for that depends partially but powerfully of state (useful) and condition of place where you do it.

If your workplace is clean (with the pertinent criteria for the activity) you'll feel more attached to develop this training, studying or art time (you can also use nice cologne for places). If your workplace is straight (productive order) you'll manage better time and will be easy to keep the product of your work (studying papers or art's result) or will repeat easier this habits (come back training).

So, basically, everything you repair, clean or order will be an achievement and an inversion in yourself and your life, cause you'll be more productive and therefore (if you thought your goals to make you happy as economical stable) happier.

It's also widely known that keeping house clean and straight makes it more useful to develop the activity for which is made up (if you have achieved your desk for studying or your own space to train sports); it also reduces inconvenient emotions and help you to be more responsible (since you don't need to waste fifteen minutes looking up for your papers or keys to get out).

This is very basic, but as you could notice, no one really put it in practice and it's one of the reasons why someone fails reaching their goals: they never have understood the home's value.

Ps. I did learn it since some months (it isn’t so accurate to tell, since is a discovery from recent reached manhood/independence; I learned it by being irresponsible with home’s care and noticing I had stopped studying or training home cause floor, desk or kitchen was too messed up to keep living.
