Archimedes Principle states, ”The magnitude of buoyant forces acting on a body partly or fully immersed in a liquid is equal to the volume of liquid displaced by it.”

For Ex: If you submerge a metallic ball fully into water , then the magnitude of buoyant force, in this case, will be equal to the volume of sphere. If you submerge the metallic ball partly into a liquid then the magnitude of buoyant force will be equal to the volume of sphere immersed or volume of liquid displaced.

Application:

  • In marine industries, the Archimedes principle is used to determine the mass of the boats/ships so that they may float.
