I could not believe that I had actually won the scholarship. I walked up to the stage with butterflues in my stomach as I was handed a beautiful gold and cobalt blue jacket; the scholarship jacket. I had been told for years that I was deplorable but here I was, receiving a scholarship. I could not believe this could happen to me.
