3. Body is bilateral.

4. They are Triploblastic animals.

5. Organ level of organisation is found in them.

6. Segmented and Coelomate. Arthropoda have various shapes with external segmented body.

7. Body is mostly divided into three regions at thorax and abdomen.

8. They have jointed appendages(Legs) this is the most specific characteristics of arthropods.

9. Body cavity around viscera contains blood is called the haemocoel.

10. Digestive tract is complete.

11. Respiration is through special structures such as Gills (e.g.-Prawn), Tracheal system (e.g.-Insects),Book lungs (e.g.-Scorpion),Book-gills (e.g.-King crabs).

12. Circulatory system is open type that is blood flows in haemocoel instead of blood vessels.

13. Nervous system comprises of Nerve ring(Brain) and a double, solid midventral nerve cord bearing a pair of ganglia per segment or less.

14. Sexes are separate, sexual dimorphism may be present.

15. Fertilization is internal but few aquatic organisms have external.

Examples;

Butterfly, Scorpion, Prawn, Spider, Cray fish, Apis(Honey Bee), Bombyx (Silk worm), Lacusta(Locust), Limulus (King crab) etc.
