The first effect of introduction of Western education in India was introduction of a new language; English. The British wanted to expand their empire by retrieving Raw material from conquered Nations and establishing administration posts at said Nation's state. They sent scholars who learnt the Hindu languayand in turn taught Indian business men English. The other effect was spread of a new religion; Christianity. Many of those who were taught English were taught by explorers or Christian priests from the various English Protestant churches.
