In 1811 Italian scientist Amedeo Avogadro combined Dalton's atomic theory with Gay Lussac's Law of combining volumes to put forth what is known as Avogadro law. It states that equal volumes of all gases at the same temperature and pressure contain equal number of molecules. This means that at a fixed temperature and pressure, the volume of a gas depends upon the number of molecules of the gas, that is, the amount of the gas.
