"Chlorine gas normally exists in the form of Cl 2 as the gas cannot exist in simple form.

When the chlorine gas is made to pass through this,

Ca(OH)2 +Cl2 → CaOCl2+ H2O

Water is formed and also CaOCl2 is the end result of the experiment.
