Write balanced chemical equations for the following statements:
(i) Bleaching powder is kept open in the air.
(ii) blue crystals of copper sulphate are heated.
(iii) chlorine gas is passed through dry slaked lime.

Explanation:

(1)

When Bleaching powder is kept on open air then it reacts with Carbon dioxide and form Calcium Carbonate and Chlorine gas

CaOCl2 + CO2 = CaCO3 + Cl2

(2)

When Blue crystals of Copper Sulphate is heated, then Water molecules removes from CuSO4•5H2O and White Colour of CuSO4 is formed . Blue Colour dissapers when CuSO4•5H2O is heated

CuSO4•5H2O = CuSO4 + 5H2O

(3)

When Chlorine gas is passed through Slaked lime then it form Calcium oxychloride (Bleaching Powder) and Water

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 = CaOCl2 + H2O

(4)

When Carbon dioxide is pssed through lime Water then it form Calcium Carbonate and water

Ca(OH)2 + CO2 = CaCO3 + H2O

(5)

When Sodium Hydroxide is heated with Zinc Granules then it formed Sodium Zincate and Hydrogen gas

Zn + 2NaOH = Na2ZnO2 + H2
