Hi !
Sodium oxide = Na₂O
Sodium Oxide is a metal oxide.Hence,it is basic in nature.
When it reacts with water,it forms an alkali(base) NaOH(sodium hydroxide)
Na₂O + H₂O ----> NaOH
NaOH turns phenolphthalein pink and turns red litmus paper to blue.

The balanced equation for the reaction that takes place when sodium oxide reacts with water,is as follows -
• Chemical equation :
Na2O + H2O = 2NaOH
• Now, the final solution will turn the colour of the phenolphthalein into pink and the colour of the red litmus paper will become blue.
• This happens, because the final solution is basic in nature due to the presence of NaOH. Now,phenolphthalein becomes pink and litmus paper becomes blue,in the basic solution.
