The outer vessel is made of wood and is covered with a heat resistant lid. The lid has two holes, one for the thermometer and the other for the stirrer. The inner and outer surfaces of the inner vessel are polished for minimizing exchange of heat with the surroundings by radiation. A heat resistant ring covers the inner vessel.
