In the late 18th century French society was divided into three estate.
1. Clergy
2.Nobility
3.Big businessmen,merchants lawyers,peasants,etc..
In 1774,Louis XVI of Bourbon family of kings ascended the throne of France.As the result of war French was in great debt of about 2 billion livres.
In the late 18th century the 1st and 2nd Estate were exempted from paying taxes.And as a result all the taxes were has to be payed by the 3rd Estate.
