Jhum Cultivation (also known as slash and burn cultivation') is an type of cultivation in which the land is first cleared by cutting and falling the trees then the trees are burnt and the ashes that are left are mixed with the soil and crops like maize, yam are grown. Once the soil loses its fertility, the land is abandoned and the cultivator moves to a new place
