write briefly about layers of the atmosphere
Answers
Answer:
The atmosphere can be divided into layers based on its temperature, as shown in the figure below. These layers are the troposphere, the stratosphere, the mesosphere and the thermosphere. A further region, beginning about 500 km above the Earth's surface, is called the exosphere.
There are 5 layers of atmosphere.
- Troposphere
- Stratosphere
- mesosphere
- thermosphere
- Exosphere

Troposphere is the most important layer of atmosphere. the air we breathe exists here. almost all the weather phenomena like rainfall, fog and hailstorm occur in this layer.
Stratosphere is free from clouds and associated weather phenomena, making conditions most ideal for flying aeroplanes. one important feature of Stratosphere is that it contains a layer of ozone gas which protects us from harmful sun rays.
mesosphere is the third layer of the atmosphere. meteorites burn up in this layer on entering from space.
in thermosphere, the temperature rises rapidly with increasing height. this layer helps in radio transmission. in fact, radio waves transmitted from the earth are reflected back to the Earth by this layer.
the upper most layer of the atmosphere is known as Exosphere. this layer has very thin air. light gases like helium and hydrogen float into the space from here.
