In 1937, the congress beneath his leadership won the election and he became state’s 1st Chief Minister.

In 1942, he resigned from his post at the decision of Republic of Indian National Congress within the wake of ‘Quit India Movement’ He vie a major role during this movement

of 1942 within the state, that he was place behind the bars up to the year 1945.

Once again he took up the reigns of administration as state’s Chief Minister in 1946 and continuing to carry the post even once the dawn of independence, therefore changing into

the first Chief Minister of Free Assam.

Gopinath Bordoloi had a long inning as a public servant and contributed much to the development of the state.

He had to create the state from the scratch and scars of partition.

Communal violence, economic subnormality, abject poorness, Hindu-Muslim strife, poor infrastructure, backless industrial sector associate degreed an impoverished economy were all that he transmissible from British people at the dawn of independence

He is the follower of Gandhi, So he follows non-violence towards his ruling time. All citizens love him and his power.

When World War II begins he got arrested and put into the jail. Later he was released due to his illness.
