The ryoti cultivation forced the farmers to sign a contract with the planters to cultivate indigo in at least 25% of their field. the planter would provide the loan to the farmer but this cycle of loans never ended. the planter also provided theseed and the drill. this system was extremely oppressive and the blue rebellion was held due to it.
