Answer:

Explanation:

Two Merits of Unitary Form of Government are:-

1) Imidiate Response to any Situation:-

One of the major advantages of Unitary Government is that, in any case, lets says, making and passing new law, taking actions against emergency situations, etc., A unitary form of Government would be able to take decision quickly, as in this form of government we have mainly, one tier of Government which is Central one, therby Center would take the decision and everyone has to accept it.

2) It creates less confusion over the governing process of the government for an average/normal citizen:-

In a Unitary Government, we have only one tier of government, so there would be less confusion to the people regarding its governing process.

For Example:- In a decentralised Federal Government, we have 3 tier of government, which govern the same citizen but at different level, so in such a case, a citizen has to abide by the rules of local government, state and central, which tends to create more confusion for the citizens.

Another good example is of USA, I got this from Internet and it explains the second point quite clearly.

In the United States, the average person is subject to the laws of four different co-equal governing bodies simultaneously. If you decide to travel to a different town in a neighboring county, then you’re still subject to your own local laws in some situations, while also being required to follow what is expected in that other community. You’re also bound by the different state laws – if you buy legal recreational marijuana in Washington State, you can’t take it to a location where it is illegal to have it in your possession.

[Source of Example :- Internet]

Two Cons of Unitary Government are:-

1) Rights and Demand of a citizen can be denied:-

Basically, since in Unitary form of government, there is only one tier of government which is governing a large mass of population, there are chances that rights and demands made by the citizens be denied. Even in many cases, these rights are denied intentionally by the Unitary Govt, to maintain its power.

2) More prone to corruption, abuse of power and representation of people:-

Since, power is in one hand and there is no one to check the excerise of power by the Unitary Govt., therefore there are highly chances that such a government can abuse the use of powers and may lead to corruption and lack of representation of people's rights.
