The process of transfer of the pollen grains from anther to the stigma of a flower is known as pollination. Pollination is necessary for the fertilisation to take place in flowering plants. The fertilisation in turn results in the formation of endosperm, seed and fruit. Hence, pollination is important for the growth and development of fruit in an angiosperm.
