The frog was a manipulative and mean creature indeed. He felt his career as singer threatened at the arrival of the nightingale; so he hatched a shrewd plan to regain his lost status. Fortunately, the nightingale turned out to be a foolish creature in spite of being a talented singer. She easily fell prey to the frog's cunning schemes. Finally he succeeded and became as the king of the tree.
The nightingale was an inexperienced, naive, and gullible creature. Though she had immense singing talent, yet she fell prey to the frog's shrewd schemes. She had low self-image which proved to be her Achilles heel. The frog came to know about her weakness on his first meeting with her; he decided to exploit her and succeeded in his nefarious plans. If the nightingale had high self-image, she would never have thought of relying so much on the cunning frog. She could have seen the frog’s hypocrisy and shrewdness. Her low self-image became the cause of her downfall, misery, and death.
Frog - The frog is portrayed as a very slick creature. He claims to be a famous undisputed and matchless creature, and even tells the nightingale that he is the owner of this bog. He earns rag specie from her concerts and withal charges her for training. Thus he is very money minded and greedy. The frog s inconsiderable and selfish nature robs the nightingale's song of its liveliness, originality and spontaneity. Later he blames her for having no individuality and for lacking originality and freshness.
This shows that he is a hypocrite.
At the same time the frog is not very talented and is a failure at everything and no animal supports him. The reason behind why the frog is not supported by anyone is that he always criticizes the nightingale.
He charges the other animals whenever they come to see the nightingale's performance. Even though every animal like nightingale but the frog makes her feel that she is nothing and always busy showing her that her worth is nothing at all.
On the other hand the nightingale is someone who is naive and lets the frog take her advantage. She is not aware of the fact that she has an amazing voice and that she is very talented she believes what the frog tells her and feels bad.
She also cannot see that the frog is making profit because of her singing and doesn't even appreciate her. He makes her feel exhausted and makes her sing whole night just for his profit. Eventually the nightingale dies because of the exhaustion and of frog taking advantage of her.
