- Bacteria are sole member of kingdom Monera.
- They are the most abundant organisms and are found almost in every places from the coldest glacier to hottest desert.
- Many of them are parasites.
- Their structure is simple.
- They show most extensive metabolic diversity
Bacterias are of four types based on shape.
- Bacillus (rod shaped)
- Vibrium (comma shape)
- Spirillum (screw shape)
- Coci (oval shape)
Example- All bacterias
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- They are single celled
- Some moulds and Protozoans are under Protista
- They are primarily aquatic.
- They are Eukaryotes and photosynthetic.
- Some take in solid food. Thus are holozoic.
- Some are parasitic, living inside the body of other organism.
- Rest are saprophytic or decomposed.
- They have well defined nucleus and membrane bound organelles.
- Some of the members have flagella or cilia.
- They form a link between plants, animals and fungi.
example- Plamodium, Trypanosoma.
