The five features of the Eastern/ Himalayas are as follows— (a) LOCATION:- They are situated between Central Nepal and Myanmar, running across the North Eastern and Eastern Boundary of India. (b) MOUNTAINS:- They are of medium height, running in parallel ranges. They are made of strong sandstone and sedimentary rocks. (c) HIGHEST MOUNTAIN PEAKS :- They contain some of the highest peaks in the world, including Everest and Kanchenjunga. (d) EXOTIC ANIMAL SPECIES :- They are also rich in animal species. Rare animals like snow leopards, Asian elephants and one horned rhinos are found in the Eastern Himalayas or its foothills. (e) CLIMATE :- The climate of Eastern Himalaya is characterized by cool summer and chilly winter. The average annual temperature is 20°C and average annual rainfall is 500mm. (f) TYPE OF VEGETATION:- Consisting of a thick forest cover, Alpine, subalpine and broad leaf forests are found in the Eastern Himalayas.
