XYLEM :

The most distinctive xylem cells are the long tracheary elements that transport water. Tracheids and vessel elements are distinguished by their shape; vessel elements are shorter, and are connected together into long tubes that are called vessels. Xylem also contains two other cell types: parenchyma and

fibers.

PHLOEM :

Phloem is composed of several cell types including sclerenchyma, parenchyma, sieve elements and companion cells. The sieve element and companion cell are found closely associated with each other in what is referred to as the sieve

element/companion cell complex.

Xylem is made up of vessels, tracheids, parenchyma, fibres whereas phloem is composed of sieve element, companion cell, parenchyma and fibre. Xylem consists mainly of dead cells phloem consists of living cells. Xylem conducts water and minerals whereas phloem conducts food materials.

  • transport food materials usually from leaves to other parts of the plant.
  • phloem in angiosperm is composed of sieve tube elements, companion cells, phloem parenchyma and and phloem fibres.
