Write chemical equations for the reactions taking place when (Sample 1) (i) zinc sulphide is heated in air (ii) calcination of zinc carbonate is done.

1) If zinc sulphide is heated in air, it results in the formation of zinc oxide and sulphur dioxide gas.
The equation :
2ZnS + 3O2 --->2ZnO + 2SO2.
2) when calcination of zinc carbonate is done.
Equation :
ZnCO₃ ---T---> ZnO↓ + CO₂ ↑
